Campus guide / Bell Tower

The Bell Tower and the Drum Tower were part of the original design when
architect C.Y. Lee accepted the project to construct the Kuandu campus for
TNUA. The design was a reference to the Chinese proverb, “evening drum,
morning bell,” which means exhortations to virtue. At the end of December
2005, acting TNUA President Prof. Shih Hui-Min donated a bell to the Uni-
versity, which held a solemn ceremony to unveil it. The bell weighs 550 kilo-
grams, with deep and far-reaching sounds that signify long lasting fortunes
for both the University and its students.
