World Stage Design (WSD) 2017 kicked off with an opening ceremony at TNUA in Taipei on June 30, promising 10 days of inspiring experiences for theatre workers and lovers from around the world.

As the world’s first and only designer-based exhibition to showcase and celebrate theatre designs from individual designers, the quadrennial event was first launched by OISTAT in 2005. It is hosted in a different city every four years. TNUA and Taiwan Association of Theatre Technology are co-organizers of the 2017 edition in Taipei, which lasts until July 9.

The opening ceremony was witnessed by guests of honor from around the world, including Minister of Culture Cheng Li-chun, OISTAT President Louis Janssen, TNUA President Prof. Yang Chyi Wen, and TATT President Liu Pei-Neng.

The Taipei event features an exhibition at Kuandu Museum of Fine Arts of 180 works selected from 660 entries submitted by designers from 52 countries. The jury of the selection was formed by members from the United States, Canada, Mexico, Britain and Taiwan.
