Mr. Martin Torres, head of the Mexican Trade Services Documentation and Cultural Office in Taiwan, was given a warm welcome by TNUA President Prof. Chen Kai-Huang during his visit to the university on March 14.

Mr. Martin Torres also met with other TNUA administrators, including: Vice President Prof. Chia-Yi Lee and Chief Director of the Office of International Affairs Prof. Jau-Lan Guo.

Both sides discussed matters concerning exchange between Taiwan and Mexico.

Since 2005, TNUA has been receiving much assistance from Mexico’s representative office in Taiwan in arranging activities, performances and exhibitions featuring artists and musicians from the North America country, including award-winning animation artist Jorge R. Gutierrez and renowned guitarist Hector Saavedra Mier.

Mr. Torres noted that he assumed the present post in August 2017. And when he visited the Taipei International Book Exhibition (TiBE) in February, he met Prof. Lee, who extended an invitation for him to visit TNUA.

Mr. Torres expressed the hope that both sides can cooperate further in arranging academic and artistic exchange activities, such as screening in Taiwan films from Mexico’s UNAM International Film Festival (FICUNAM).

Prof. Chen stressed that TNUA holds many international activities, such as the annual Kuandu Arts Festival – all of which could provide good opportunities for exchanges between the two sides.

Prof. Chen asked Mr. Torres to recommend artists from different areas to take part in TNUA’s activities.

Mr. Torres was also shown around the campus during his visit.
