Arts from Taipei National University of the Arts:

2. Conditions for doctoral degree:
(A).Doctoral Dissertation Outline Approval (including preliminary oral examination):
Upon completion of 24 credits and obtaining permission from advising professor,
the student may submit thesis outline for approval and take the preliminary oral
examination.
(B).Doctoral Candidate Qualifying Examination:After obtaining approval for the
doctoral thesis outline and providing proof of language proficiency, the student
may take the doctoral qualifying written examiation to become a candidate for
the doctoral degree.
(C).Doctoral Dissertation and Defense: The student must pass the qualifying writte
examination and satisfy one of the two requirements below in order to hold a
dissertation defense.
a. Publication of two papers in academic journals after starting the program.
(The papers must be peer reviewed, be over 10,000 characters in length,
may not overlap with the doctoral thesis in part or in whole, and may not
contain rewritten material from the candidate's masters thesis.)
